One Voice Makes A Difference with Janet Swanson

Mar 25, 2024

Janet talks about how she picked out Palm Sunday Songs that point to Easter and what they mean.

You guys, I know this is an old song,  but I pulled it out to do this week because I was feeling it deep in my spirit. Especially after I looked at what it meant. This is how we do our Huddle (word of encouragement) each week at our church.

SONG 1:  THIS IS AMAZING GRACE by North Point Worship

Key words: is the Chorus.  This is amazing Grace, this is unfailing love, that he would take my place, that he would bear my cross. You laid down your life, that I’d be set free. Jesus I sing for, all that you’ve done for me! WORTHY IS THE LAMB THAT WAS SLAIN, WORTHY IS THE KING WHO CONQUERED THE GRAVE

1. Ephesians 2:8

2. Romans 5:20–21

3. 2 Corinthians 12:9–10

4. Ephesians 1:2-10 AMPC

5. Hebrews 4:15–16

GRACE: : 5485 xáris "favor, disposed to, inclined, favorable toward, leaning toward to share benefit") – grace (xaris) is primarily used of the Lord's favor, freely extended to give Himself away to people (because He "ever leans toward them”).

MERCY: To receive mercy or obtain mercy.—The real meaning is, receive compassion (Hebrews 2:17) in our weakness and trials.

éleos (translating OT 2617/ese, "covenant-loyalty," "covenant-love" used over 170 times in the OT….”mercy,” as defined by loyalty to God's covenant. In the NT it’s loyalty and covenant through the blood of Jesus!

SONG 2: Name Above All Names by Charity Gayle

Key words that stand out to me in this song is the bridge:

The cross still stands, the blood still flows, the work is finished and hell still knows

The grave is still empty, the tomb is still rolled, and you’re still high and lifted up, you’re still seated on the throne!

2. Ephesians 1:19-20 New King James Version

3. Romans 8:11

4. Ephesians 3:16-17 NLT

5. Matthew 27:45-56New King James Version

Jesus Dies on the Cross

6. Job 19:25 ESV

Song 3: No One Beside by Elevation Worship

Key words to me are in verse 4: you are the ONE who redeems the wrongs that I have done, reigning over all the days to come

Lamentations 3:55-60
